Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
LectioDive (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Foxxception LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We keep the app’s data footprint small on purpose.
You can read the daily readings, the Bible, and the study content without creating an account. Until you sign in, your hearts, reading progress, and any journal draft are kept only on your phone.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address so we can sign you in. If you sign in with an emailed code, our email provider delivers the code to that address. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address that service provides (Apple may give us a private relay address instead); Google may also share your name and profile photo, which are saved with your account. We do not use passwords. Each time you sign in, we keep a session record, which can include the IP address and device type it came from, to keep your account secure.
- Your journal. Journal entries you save are stored on our servers, tied to your account, and shown only to you when you are signed in. If you start writing before you sign in, the draft stays on your phone until you sign in and save it. When you sign out, the app removes your journal from the phone.
- Hearts and reading progress. The Discover cards you heart and the days you mark as read are stored on your phone. When you are signed in, they are also saved to your account so they follow you to your other devices.
- Chapter study requests. When you ask for a study of a chapter that does not have one yet, we note that your account requested it. The study itself is shared with every reader.
- Reports. If you use “Report an issue,” we receive what the report is about (for example, the day, passage, or card) and any note you choose to add. If you are signed in, the report is linked to your account.
- Messages to us. If you email us, we use your message and email address to reply.
- Diagnostics. The app uses Sentry to report crashes and errors. A report contains technical details such as the error, your device model, the operating-system and app versions, and recent activity in the app (for example, what was tapped and which requests the app made). About one in five app launches also sends performance timings, such as how long the app took to start. Diagnostics are not linked to your account or email address. Our servers also keep short-lived technical logs of requests. All of this is used only to find and fix problems and to keep the service secure.
- Licensed Bible usage. When you read an edition supplied through API.Bible, the app sends API.Bible its usage token for the displayed Scripture, a randomly generated device identifier stored on your phone, and a randomly generated session identifier. These reports meet the provider’s Scripture usage reporting requirements and are not linked to your LectioDive account. Your account details and journal are not included. If a report cannot be sent, it is queued on your phone and retried when you next read an API.Bible edition while connected.
Waitlist
If you join the waitlist on our website, we store your email address, when you signed up, and which page you signed up from. We use your address only to send you news about the app’s launch and early access — starting with one email confirming you joined. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, or you can email support@lectiodive.com to unsubscribe or to have your address deleted, which we do on request. To stop abuse of the signup form, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address a signup came from, never the address itself, and delete it within about a day. Your waitlist address is never sold or shared, and it is not linked to an app account.
Kept only on your phone
- Your pilgrimage, saved verses and highlights, reminder time, appearance settings and scripture layout are stored only on your phone and are not sent to us.
- If you turn on “Use my real steps,” the app reads your step count from your phone’s motion sensor to move your pilgrimage along. Step counts are not sent to us.
- If you save a card image to your photo library, the app can only add that image; it cannot see your photos.
How we use information
- To provide the app: signing you in, keeping your journal, and syncing your hearts and reading progress.
- To review reports and correct study content.
- To send waitlist members launch and early-access news.
- To find, diagnose, and fix problems and improve the app.
- To meet usage reporting requirements for licensed Bible editions.
- To protect the security and integrity of the service.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the app: Cloudflare hosts our servers, Neon provides our database, Resend delivers sign-in codes and waitlist emails, and Sentry handles crash and error diagnostics. If you sign in with Apple or Google, that company handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
API.Bible supplies licensed Bible editions and receives the Scripture usage tokens and device and session identifiers described above for usage reporting. This reporting applies when you choose to read an API.Bible edition.
Scripture and study content
Scripture text includes public-domain historical Bibles — Douay-Rheims, Crampon and Martini — and licensed editions supplied through API.Bible. Study content is generated with Magisterium AI on our servers; it is a study aid, not official Church teaching. To write it, we send Magisterium AI only public-domain texts — Scripture and passages from the Church Fathers, councils, and other public-domain Catholic writings — with the day’s liturgical details or a study topic, never your account details, your journal, or anything else about you. Each study and Discover card is generated once and shared with every reader.
Deleting your account and data
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app, under Settings › Account › Delete account. This deletes your account and its data from our servers — your journal entries, hearts, reading progress, and sign-in records — and the app removes your journal from your phone. Reports you sent and chapter studies you requested are kept, but are no longer linked to you. Deletion cannot be undone.
You can also ask us by email to delete your account, without using the app. Delete your account explains both ways and what is deleted.
Children
LectioDive is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
How we protect and keep your information
Everything the app sends to our servers or to Sentry, and every waitlist signup on this website, travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Our servers reach our database over encrypted connections too. Cloudflare, Neon, Resend, and Sentry keep the information they store for us encrypted. Our database and admin tools are locked with secret keys, which are never built into the app or this website.
How long information is kept:
- Your account. We keep your account, sign-in records, journal, hearts, and reading progress on our servers until you delete your account, unless you delete them sooner. Delete your account explains how.
- Crash and error reports. Sentry keeps them for at most 90 days, and deletes its backups 90 days after making them.
- Server logs. Our app server’s technical logs of requests expire on their own within 7 days. Cloudflare’s security tools can keep a record of a request to this website that they block or challenge, including its IP address, for up to 31 days.
- Database history and backups. Deleting your account removes it from our database right away. To recover from mistakes, our database provider, Neon, keeps a history of recent changes for at most 30 days and its own backups for 30 days. Until these age out, they can still hold a deleted account. If we ever restore our database from this history, we delete again every account that was deleted after the restore point.
- Emails we send. Resend, which delivers our sign-in codes and waitlist emails, keeps each email and its delivery log for 30 days, and its backups for 7 days.
- Performance timings. Sentry keeps the performance timings described above for at most 13 months.
- Waitlist. We keep your waitlist address until you ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we keep it marked as unsubscribed so we never email it again.
- Bible searches. They are not saved with your account. Our servers can keep a search’s results in a cache for up to a day.
- Reports and chapter studies. Reports you send and chapter studies you request are kept. If you delete your account, they are no longer linked to you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here with a new date.
